Indian Army inaugurates shrine at Gohallan village of Uri

Uri, June 10: In a remarkable demonstration of civil and military synergy and cultural reverence, the India Army, in close collaboration with the residents of Gohallan village, played a pivotal role in the construction of the shrine of Peer Syed Mehdi Shah.

To commemorate the Saint’s death anniversary and formally inaugurate the shrine for the wider public, Namaz was organised on 10 Jun 2025.

The event, draw nearly 1,000 devotees from surrounding village including Salamabad, Dardkote, Gwalta and Jabla.

It commenced with Namaz for peace and was imbued with an atmosphere of spiritual unity and fraternal warmth.

The Indian Army’s initiative was met with profound gratitude from the local populace, who lauded the Army’s sustained efforts in uplifting community infrastructure and fostering social cohesion.

Beyond the material improvements, the events symbolised a deeper commitment to inclusivity, cultural preservation and harmonious coexistence – values the Indian Army continues to uphold with steadfast resolve and dignity.
