Baramulla, Apr 01: The Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Singhpora Kalan in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday sought written explanations from 10 teachers of two government schools for being absent from duties.
Tuesday marked the second day of Eid-ul-fitr.
During his surprise visit to Government Middle school Kanispora Payeen Baramulla, eight teachers out of 12 were found absent while two teachers out of seven were found absent at Government Primary School Deh Kanispora.
In the wake of this, ZEO, Saif Din Chechi directed the absent teachers to submit a written explanation for their unauthorized absence.
Further, the ZEO ordered all absent teachers from both schools to report to the Zonal Office to explain their absence.
"The non-compliance of teachers will result in disciplinary action," an official said.
ZEO has instructed all Heads of Institutions (HOIs) of middle and primary schools in the zone to immediately submit photos of teachers' attendance and the written leave records.
