Budget session: AIP bill seeks enrollment of children of Govt officials in Govt-run schools

Srinagar, Feb 12: The Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) has submitted a bill in the J&K Legislative Assembly  to make it mandatory for public representatives and government officials to enroll their children in government schools.

AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad was the first to submit a bill in the J&K Legislative Assembly demanding a complete ban on alcohol.

“Liquor has no place in our spiritually rich society. A land known as ‘Reshwa’er’ (the land of saints) should not be tainted by alcohol trade. Since 2009 Er Rashid has been fighting against this menace and AIP remains steadfast in its mission to declare J&K a dry state,” he said.

AIP also spearheaded the move to ban online gaming, which has led to financial and emotional ruin for countless families.

“Unregulated online gaming has pushed many young people into gambling addiction and debt. This must be curbed before it causes more devastation,” Inam Un Nabi said.

AIP has also reintroduced a bill making it mandatory for public representatives and government servants to enroll their children in government schools.

The bill, earlier moved by Er Rashid when he was MLA, has now been submitted again by MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad.

Inam Un Nabi said that MP Er Rashid, despite being incarcerated, continues to inspire AIP’s fight for a ban on alcohol, online gaming and accountability in the education sector.

“Government schools cater to nearly 70% of the state’s school-going children, yet officials neglect them while opting for private institutions for their own children. This bill will ensure they take education reform seriously,” Inam Un Nabi stated.

AIP has urged the government and all members of the Assembly to support these three crucial bills, ensuring a ban on alcohol, an end to online gambling and accountability in the education sector.

“These bills are essential for protecting our social and moral fabric. We hope every conscientious member of the Assembly will stand with AIP to ensure they become law,” Inam Un Nabi said.
