Baramulla, Jul 26: Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Dr. G N Itoo in Saturday that the performance of government and private educational institutions should be judged on basis of the output.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 3-day training programme for newly promoted headmasters, in Sopore, G N Itoo said that almost 332 students who qualified NEET and JEE exams have graduated from government schools.

"The students of government schools who qualified for IIT Delhi, Mumbai and Kharagpur are product of government schools," he said.

He however said that the government schools were not lagging behind in terms of performance but are facing infrastructural issues in some far off areas.

""Yes, there are some challenges. We have to run our schools in difficult conditions amid infrastructural issues," he said.

DSEK however said the government has already made plans to plug the infrastructural gaps under Samagra Shiksha.

"We have funds under UT budget and Chief Minister has announced that we will have two model schools in each district which will have facilities from KG class to 12th," he said.

G N Itoo said the initiative has been taken to provide better exposyre to the students in these schools from the beginning.

"Once they graduate after 12th standard, they should be fully confident to face the competition," he said.

Earlier, G N Itoo said the process for placement of Postgraduate teachers, lecturers, headmasters and Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) in government schools was nearing completion.

He said the vacancy position is expected to drop to zero by next month.

"We have already placed 700 Cluster Resource Centres (CRCs) and a few vacancies are left, but they will be filled in a day or two," he said.

Itoo said the government has also approved the engagement of additional teachers in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

"The process will begin very soon," he said.

DSEK G N Itoo said the performance of government schools across J&K has significantly improved in recent years, particularly in competitive exams like NEET and JEE.

“Government schools are not lagging behind in results but the performance has increased," he said.

He said the pass percentage in past years used to be 58 percent which has now increased to 72 percent.

"Students from government schools are now doing much better in competitive exams, even outperforming private schools in some remote areas," he said.
