Varsity receives electric carts for specially-abled
students from JK Bank

Srinagar, Aug 22: The
University of Kashmir (KU) on Friday received five electric carts from
Jammu & Kashmir Bank to facilitate easy mobility of specially-abled
students across the campus.
The initiative is aimed at
making the university environment more inclusive and accessible, ensuring that
students with special needs can move conveniently between departments, hostels,
and other facilities.
Of these, three carts will
be stationed at the Main Campus and two at Zakura Campus to ensure better
accessibility for students at both locations.
Speaking on the occasion,
Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan said, “This generous support from
J&K Bank reflects a strong commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in
higher education," she said.
VC KU said that University was
determined to create a learner-friendly campus where every student feels
supported and empowered.
"University has taken
several steps to strengthen student support services and will continue to work
in partnership with institutions and organisations to enhance facilities for
specially-abled students," she said.
Dean Academic Affairs KU,
Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada, Dean College Development Council KU Prof. Khurshid
Butt, Registrar KU Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Director Admissions & Competitive
Examinations KU Prof. Fayaz Ahmad, Dean Students' Welfare KU Prof. Pervez Ahmed, Director IoT Zakura Campus KU Prof. Tariq
Banday, and other senior administrative officials of the varsity were present
at the occasion.
Officials from J&K Bank including Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, Divisional Head (Kashmir) J&K Bank Arshad Qadri and, Zonal Head Srinagar J&K Bank Layek Jan, were also present at the occasion.
Prof. Khan along with other
administrative officials also took a ride in the electric carts to check its
safety and suitability for campus use, expressing satisfaction over the facility.
