CM says dismissed staff must be heard on allegations
Srinagar Feb 15: J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday encountered, for the second time since assuming his office, the termination of employees over alleged terror links, prompting him to remark that the dismissed staff must be given an opportunity to be heard on the allegations against them.
The J&K LG Saturday terminated three more J&K government employees over alleged terror links, a process started in 2019.
Omar and his party National Conference had promised to revisit the terminations if they come power but are yet to make a breakthrough in the matter which has become a major issue in the UT.
Fomer Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Saturday slammed the terminations, and questioned the National Conference over its promise of revisiting the cases of dismissed employees.
Hours after the termination of three employees, CM Omar Abdullah said that everyone is innocent until proven guilty as per the law of the land
"If there is evidence against these terminated employees and they are given a chance to justify themselves, but they could not, then it is fine," Omar Abdullah said
"If a decision is taken without listening to them, then the law says everyone is innocent until proven guilty," he said.
