How is KU VC holding recruitment process in last 6 months, asks Gujjar-Bakarwal Students' Alliance

Alleges varsity selecting non-domiciles at expense of meritorious ST candidates

Srinagar, Feb 17: The Gujjar-Bakarwal Students' Alliance on Monday held strong protests against the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University for holding a "highly biased" recruitment process at the fag end of her tenure.

Leaders and members of the Alliance hit streets with placards seeking justice an end to what they called a "highly biased and fraudulent" recruitment process at Kashmir University.

The Alliance alleged that at least two candidates who are non-domiciles have been selected at KU against ST quota "at the expense of 18 candidates belonging to Gujjar-Bakerwal community".

"We want to ask how VC KU is allowed to conduct interviews in the last six months of her tenure," said Alliance president, Amir Choudhury, talking to the media outside Jammu University where protests were held.

The Alliance said the KU VC has already turned 65 in age and is supposed to demit office rather than hold a 'clandestine recruitment process'.

"We want to ask LG and Omar Abdullah administration how our jobs are secure in UT when they had promised to secure our jobs," the Alliance asked, seeking to quash the alleged fraudulent recruitment process at Kashmir University.
