Mehbooba Mufti demands justice in Makhan Din case; says weeks passed, but no action taken

Srinagar, Feb 18: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti urged the personal intervention of Director General of Police (DGP) while expressing concerns over the tragic death of Makhan Din.

Taking to her microblogging website X, Mehbooba Mufti wrote that weeks have passed since the victim’s death, yet no judicial inquiry has been initiated, and the bereaved family has not received any form of support or compensation.”

"The most concerning part is that SHO Bilawar who allegedly drove the victim to suicide is still at large. The issue simply doesn’t end here - many innocent individuals like Makhan Din remain arrested on false charges of militancy by the same officer and could face the same tragic fate unless action is taken," Mehbooba Mufti wrote on X.

She urged DGP JK Police to intervene and ensure justice for the family and also prevent such tragic cases in the future.

Earlier, Makhan Din, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, tragically passed away under suspicious circumstances.
