Srinagar, Feb 28 : It was a tragicomedy of sorts this morning in Kashmir.
The education minister under an elected government appeared to make a tongue-in-cheek remark following an announcement over the extension in winter vacations till March 7, 2025.
The education minister was right in extending the vacations saying since it had snowed heavily, it won't be possible for children to make it to the schools.
But, her good talk soon had an element of a tragedy when she said that because of snow the children also cannot make it to examination centres, but didn't postpone the exams for a day or two.
This is despite the fact that the JK Board of School Education (BOSE), if not Kashmir University or Cluster University, falls well within her domain of command and control. "If children cannot make it to exam centers, how and why did the BOSE under the education minister go ahead with the exams?" asked a student.
"It seems that the education minister lives in some wonderland where children can't make it to schools due to snow but can do so for the exams."
However, a social media user was apt to suggest that the education minister wasn't at fault because like the law and order, the exam postponement appeared to be "with Centre".
Meanwhile, imaginative sources said the education minister appeared to have taken this argument seriously to defend non-postponement of exams.
"This is the pitfall of a dual control of governance," the minister is said to have remarked later.
Meanwhile, children in examination centres have demanded an end to "dual control so that the minister, while she is able to extend winter vacations, is also able to postpone exams in future."
Note: This is a Piece of Fiction.
