GVEI hosts consumer awareness campaign organised by Legal Metrology department

Srinagar, Feb 28: Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) Srinagar hosted a consumer awareness campaign organised in collaboration with the Legal Metrology Department.

As per the handout issued here, the event was organised to educate staff about their rights as consumers and the importance of fair trade practices.

Joint Controller Legal Metrology Department Tanveer Ahmad Shaheen, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Department Nazir Ahmad were present at the occasion.

During the session, the officials provided valuable insights into consumer rights, the significance of accurate weighing and measuring standards, and protection against unfair trade practices.

They highlighted the role of the Legal Metrology Department in ensuring compliance with consumer protection laws and encouraged attendees to remain vigilant while making purchases.

"The campaign served as an interactive and informative platform, where staff members were enlightened about various aspects of consumer laws, including redressal mechanisms in case of grievances, product standardization, and the importance of checking MRP, expiry dates, and ISI marks on products," the school handout reads.

It further reads that such informative sessions will be conducted in future exclusively for students to strengthen consumer awareness.

"Such occasions ensure that students remain well-informed about their rights and responsibilities as consumers," it reads.

The handout reads that GVEI is committed to fostering awareness among its students and staff, empowering them to become informed and responsible consumers.
