3727 out of 32474 vacant positions referred to SSB, PSC since October last year: J&K Govt

Jammu, Mar 04: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that there are 32474 vacancies in different departments.

This was stated in a written reply to a question raised by MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is the minister in-charge, General Administration Department (GAD) informed the House that there are 32474 vacancies in different departments as on January 31, 2025.

"There are 2503 gazetted vacancies, 19214 non- gazetted vacancies and 10757 multi-tasking staff vacancies," the reply reads.

It reads that 3727 vacancies have been referred to Jammu & Kashmir Service Selection Board (SSB) and Public Service Commission (PSC) since October 16, 2024 post formation of the National Conference government led by Omar Abdullah.

"Of these, 738 are gazetted posts, 1754 non-gazetted posts and 1235 multi-tasking slots," the written reply reads.

The government in its reply said that it has collected Rs 14.17 crore examination fee from students appearing in recruiting tests conducted by SSB and PSC.

"There is not any proposal under consideration by the government to waive off the examination fees for aspirants appearing in recruitment exams," the reply reads.
