Jammu, March 4: The additional deputy commissioner Rajouri has sought all details pertaining to suspension of Dr Parvez Abdullah from the authorities of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri amid deadlock over the issue which has promoted the faculty to launch a 'fast unto death'.
Starting his probe into the matter, the ADC has asked the varsity's joint registrar (establishment) to present himself with all the documents and witnesses on March 5, 2025, saying "your appearance and participation in the inquiry proceedings is essential to ensure a fair and just process."
Meanwhile in a surprising development Tuesday, the BGSBU modified its experience certificate given previously to Dr Abdullah where he was given a clean chit. The new experience certificate has now listed allegations against Dr Abdullah which, according to the University led to his suspension.
However faculty at BGSBU have slammed the move, saying it was a mockery of the administrative system that a new experience certificate "which looks more like a chargesheet has been given to the suspended professor.'
"This must not have happened anywhere in the world where a professor's experience certificate is modified a year later," said the protesting faculty members who have gained support from local civil society also in their demand seeking revocation of Dr Abdullah's suspension.
Earlier in the day, former chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti voiced concern over the suspension of Dr Abdullah and urged the UT administration to resolve the issue.
Moreover faculty members who are in 'fast unto death' strike wrote a new memorandum to Vice Chancellor urging him to revoke Abdullah's suspension in the interest of all stakeholders.
They also said that Dr Abdullah's medical condition was deteriorating in view of the hunger strike launched by him and his colleagues.
