Srinagar March 5: In a significant development, Dilafroze Qazi has been felicitated 

at BRICS CCI annual summit and felicitation 2025.

BRICS is an intergovernmental organization that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

Dilafroze Qazi has been felicitated and honoured for her contribution in the education sector.

A distinguished Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Dilafrose Qazi began her career in 1988 as an educationist who founded a polytechnic school, the Srinagar School of Management (SSM) College of Engineering.

"Among the many firsts that Qazi has initiated, this educational institute stands apart as the very first private engineering college in Kashmir. Eventually she also went ahead and opened a sister college in Haryana. An entrepreneur with the purpose of establishing peace and curating progress, through education, she strives to

ensure that the next generation will have ample sources of livelihood and growth," the handout reads.

Over the years, her vision and dedication have transformed the institution into one of the premier engineering colleges in the valley.

"However, the journey so far was marred with untoward obstacles, in fact, the challenges she faced in life were nothing less than brutal," the handout reads.

The handout reads that despite adversities she strengthened her

grit further and remained steadfast in her mission to empower

communities through education.

"Bold, un-daunting steps lead to a big impact. Her work was not confined to the four walls of a classroom. Her endeavours extended beyond, as she reached out to those struck by tragedy," it reads.

"She rose like the messiah of hope, providing education to women and children nursing the scars of violence," the handout reads.

The handout reads that Dilafrose has also played an instrumental role in peace building efforts.

"Her inherent ability to steer critical strategic decisions which can have political implications, have stood her in good stead," it reads.

She has contributed valuably in

peace talks with a neighbouring country, where her advocacy for dialogue and understanding has made her a key figure in regional reconciliation efforts.

Dilafroze is one of the entrepreneurs with the purpose of establishing peace, rekindling hope and curating collective progress through education.
