Thana Divas: IGP Kashmir stresses community involvement to fight drug menace

Budgam March 6: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi on Thursday emphasised the importance of community involvement to fight against drug-related issues.

He was speaking during the "Thana Divas” program organised by Police Station Chadoora, Budgam at Surasyar - Brenwar.

IGP encouraged the people to take advantage of the Victim-Centric approach under the New Criminal Laws.

IGP was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Central Kashmir Range (CKR) Rajiv Omprakash Pandey and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam Nikhil Borkar.

Thana Divas was organised in a remote village which hasGujjar, Bakarwal and Chopan communities.

Locals participated in huge numbers in the Thana Divas program.

It was the first time that Zonal head of J&K Police visited such a remote village of the valley.

During the meeting, community members raised several important issues, including the need for the engagement of Special Police Officers (SPOs) from their area and the establishment of a new police post in the vicinity.

They also raised other concerns related to civil administration and impacting their daily lives.

Addressing the gathering, IGP Kashmir, V K Birdi assured the community members that their concerns would be addressed without delays.

He highlighted that land was already been identified for the construction of the Police Post Surasyar, which will be operational at the earliest. 

The Thana Divas program concluded with a vote of thanks from SSP Budgam. He expressed gratitude to the community members for their active participation in the program and cooperation for strengthening police public relations.

Locals also praised the efforts of senior officers of J&K Police who visited such remote areas to address their genuine grievances.
