Repatriation of teaching staff: Vigilance officers to monitor compliance with Govt order

Report to be submitted to DSEK by March 15

Srinagar, March 07: In a latest development, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has directed the Vigilance Officers of the department to monitor the progress on repatriation of the teaching staff deployed in offices for different administrative works.

The move comes amid the poor implementation of the orders regarding repatriation of the teaching and non-teaching staff to their original place of postings.

The order in this regard has been issued by the Director School Education Kashmir G N Itoo.

"In continuation to this office Order No. 51-DSEK of 2025 Dated February 22 of 2025, it is hereby ordered that District Vigilance Officers and additional district vigilance officers shall personally monitor the implementation of instructions regarding repatriation of all teachers and the non teaching staff to their original place of postings," the order reads.

Notably, scores of teaching staff members are presently deployed or attached for administrative works in different offices and departments while non teaching staff members are working outside parent department.

"The vigilance officers shall submit the compliance report in respect of officials belonging to their respective districts on the devised format to the Directorate by March 15 of 2025," the order reads.

As already reported, the DSEK earlier ordered repatriation of all the teachers deployed in offices, to their original place of postings. However, the order witnesses poor implementation on ground as Chief Education Officers (CEOs) are allegedly shielding these teachers and are reluctant to relieve them from offices.

This has forced the DSEK to seek compliance report from the Vigilance Officers.

These teachers are deployed in offices without any orders from past many years, leaving students at the mercy of God.

Over the years, the detachment of the teaching staff from the offices within the parent department and outside offices has become a persistent problem as the repeated orders by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) have failed to see any implementation on the ground.

Given the lax implementation of the orders, the School Education Department (SED) and DSEK are forced to issue the orders every year prior to the commencement of the new academic session in the schools.

Over the years, the government has issued repeated orders directing the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to detach and relieve all the teachers from offices.

However, the orders see poor implementation on the ground as the teachers continue to remain deployed in offices.
