Srinagar, Mar 19: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly that ration was not stopped to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families due to verification issues.
In a written reply to a question raised by MLA Mir Saifullah, the government informed the House that all eligible households are receiving their entitled food grains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and at subsidised rates under the Non-Priority Household (NPHH) category.
Minister in charge, the department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs said that no ration has been halted due to verification-related concerns.
"All eligible households/beneficiaries are getting food grains as per their entitlement/approved scales, free of cost under NFSA and at highly subsidized rates under the NPHH group," the minister in-charge informed the House. (KNO)
