Chartered flights issue: CM to address House at 3:30

KS News Desk

Srinagar, Mar 20: The  speaker of the Legislative Assembly announced that the Chief Minister would address the House at 3:30 today following the exchange of a heated verbal argument between the ruling NC-Congress and opposition BJP over the issue of chartered flights,

The speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather informed the House that the Chief Minister would address the issue during his reply to discussion on grants of departments headed by him at 3:30 PM today.              Earlier during the Question Hour MLA Shopian Shabir Kulley raised concerns about the alleged misuse of public funds on chartered flights and demanded  a House Committee be constituted to investigate the matter.

In its reply to his Cut Motion, the government informed the House that Rs 14 crore expenditure has been incurred on chartered flights.

The NC-Congress MLAs supported the demand for a probe, while BJP Legislators accused them of playing to the galleries instead of investigating the allegations.

This led to a heated exchange of arguments between the two sides, lasting over 10 minutes.
