Govt schools with dispensers to get Sanitary Napkins for girl students: DC Baramulla

Baramulla, March 26: The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa on Wednesday said that all the government girls' schools would be provided sanitary napkins to ensure convenience for female students.

He said the napkin will be provided to the schools where where dispensers have been already installed.

He was speaking during a distribution cum orientation programme on the usage of inecinators and vending machines at Higher Secondary School, Gund Khawja Qasim in the Aspirational Block  Singhpora Pattan. 

The event was organised in collaboration with the Vatsalya Foundation Vadodara, as a step towards improving menstrual hygiene among girls.

The event was presided by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa.

Joint Director Planning (JDP), SDM Pattan Gulzar Ahmad besides the concerned officers and representatives from the Vatsalya Foundation were also present at the occasion.

Vatsalya Foundation Vadodara will collaborate with the district administration Baramulla in the setting up of a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in pattan Baramulla and installation of manual-type vending machines and eco-friendly concrete-based incinerators in 50 schools across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Baramulla highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene for the well-being of young girls and expressed his gratitude to the Vatsalya Foundation for this collaborative initiative towards setting up this automated unit for manufacturing sanitary napkins.

The DC also instructed the Chief Education Officer to ensure proper utilization and maintenance of the vending machines and incinerators in all designated institutions.

During the event, the DC engaged with women from Self-Help Groups, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to creating new employment opportunities to support their financial independence.

Later, DC distributed incinerators and manual vending machines among the school heads of various schools for the convenience of girl students in their respective institutions.
