Over a dozen injured in Nayug tunnel accident at Qazigund, traffic halted

Qazigund, Mar 26: At least a dozen people got injured in a road accident inside the Banihal-Qazigund Nayug Tunnel on Wednesday evening.

An official said that one SRTC bus met with an accident inside the Banihal-Qazigund Nayug Tunnel, leaving around one dozen people wounded.

Their condition was being ascertained when the report was last filed.

The official said that the bus was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar. "The traffic inside the tunnel has been suspended," officials said.

He said that all the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital in Qazigund for treatment.

The official said that traffic from both the sides has been halted. "Recovery van reached on spot. Traffic restoration will be ensured as well," the official said.

The official said that Athan company is responsible for maintenance of 8.5 kilometres long Banihal Qazigund fourlane tunnel.
