Srinagar, April 04: The Former Union Minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz on Friday said that the office of J&K Lieutenant Governor was creating a bad precedent of issuing transfer orders.
In a statement issued here, Prof. Soz questioned LG and said the basic question was that it was the responsibility of the elected Government to issue executive orders for transfers.
"It is unprecedented in India that a Governor or a Lt. Governor will issue executive orders effecting transfers in civil administration, when an elected Government is in place," the statement issued by Prof. Soz reads.
It reads that the people in J&K expect that the Lieutenant Governor will make his position clear.
"The people of the J&K State also expect that the Central Government will have to do some serious thinking on how best the border state like Jammu and Kashmir should be governed in consonance with letter and the spirit of the constitution of India," the statement reads.
