Danger not gone yet, we have not lowered our guard: SSP Baramulla on presence of terrorists

'We have not reduced our efforts in catching the terrorists present here'

Baramulla, April 17: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh on Thursday said that the security agencies were privy to the fact that the danger, in terms of presence of terrorists, was not over and they have not lowered their guard as well.

He said that terrorists engaging with security forces in Jammu division does not mean their presence has faded in Kashmir.

"If terrorist activities are happening in Jammu, that does not mean all the terrorists are there. Terrorists are in Kashmir as well. We frequently get reports about the presence of terrorists here," SSP Baramulla said in response to a query regarding probability of terrorists shifting from Jammu division towards Kashmir.

He said security forces carry around 12 CASOs on a daily basis on basis of intelligence inputs.

He was interacting with media persons at District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla first time after assuming his charge as SSP here.

"We are privy to fact that danger is not gone yet, we have not lowered our guard neither we have reduced our efforts in catching the terrorists who are here," he said.

He said that the security agencies including  CRPF, RR units of Indian Army and JK Police, as part of the counter terrorist grid, are working in close synergy to catch the terrorists.

He said that Baramulla being the border district witnesses infiltration attempts at the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector.

"Infiltration attempts are made and terrorist related movement is there but it is our job to find out them on basis of our intelligence," he said.

He however said that JK Police want to handle anti-terrorist operations professionally with zero percent error.

"Our philosophy is that we should not commit any mistake. We want to have two way communication so that there is no error of judgment and any innocent person is caught," he said.

He said that he has issued strict instructions to his subordinate officers that there should be no "Hanky Panky" from Police side.

"But my message to the public is that if they face any such Hanky Panky from Police official they should directly approach me so that correct measures are taken," SSP Baramulla said.

"Our motive is that who deserve to get punished should get punished," he said.
