Ensures her commitment to transparency, academic excellence, and inclusive growth at Varsity

Srinagar, May 17: A day after being reappointed as Vice Chancellor Kashmir University, Prof. Nilofer Khan expressed her gratitude to the Chancellor and J&K Lieutenant Governor for granting her another term of two years.

"I am really thankful to the Chancellor and Lieutenant Governor for once again placing his trust in me. This re-appointment is not just an honour; it is a big responsibility. I will do my best to meet the expectations of all the stakeholders and society at large,” she said.

Prof. Khan affirmed her commitment to transparency, academic excellence, and inclusive growth, and acknowledged the support of the Pro-Chancellor, and Education Minister and higher education department in furthering the mission of higher education in the UT.

Prof. Khan emphasized that significant efforts were made for the progress of the university during her previous tenure, including recruitment of permanent faculty.

"We have recruited the fresh faculty after a long time and the process is underway. Their contribution to teaching and research will strengthen the university further and take it to new heights of excellence,” she said.

Prof. Khan also highlighted the successful implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) at the undergraduate level, the introduction of Design Your Own Degree (DYD) program, and several new and forward-looking courses such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Energy studies and shared that preparations are underway for implementation of NEP at the postgraduate level,

Her vision for the next two years includes a speedy recruitment drive for remaining teaching and non-teaching positions, full-scale NEP implementation at all academic levels, enhancement of research, innovation, promotion of start-ups, strengthening community outreach and university-industry linkages; and improving visibility and collaborations at national and international levels.

She also stated that the upcoming NAAC re-accreditation cycle is a top priority and expressed confidence that the University of Kashmir, currently accredited A+, will improve its grade with the collective efforts of faculty, students, and research scholars.

She reiterated that the varsity, with its vast network of affiliated colleges, holds immense potential to contribute meaningfully to the educational, social, and economic development of the region and beyond.
