Awantipora, May 22: In a significant development, the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has been ranked among India's top 200 universities in the 2024 edition of global university rankings by Research.com, a prestigious global university ranking platform.
As per the details, IUST has secured 195th position nationally among over 1100 universities and 2882nd globally out of more than 30000 universities.
The recognition at the global level reflects the growing prominence in research and academia of the IUST.
Research.com is regarded as one of the most credible academic databases which follows a rigorous annual evaluation and ranks leading universities and researchers worldwide across various disciplines, based on publication data, citation impact, and research performance.
This recognition is further bolstered by the inclusion of two distinguished IUST faculty members in the list of top Earth Science scientists in India.
Vice Chancellor IUST Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo has been ranked 32nd nationally and Prof. Shakeel Ahmed Professor at the Disaster Risk Reduction Centre, IUST has secured the 34th rank in India.
"Under Prof. Romshoo's leadership, IUST has transformed into a research-intensive institution emphasizing research, innovation and entrepreneurship," the IUST handout reads.
It reads that the university has seen a significant increase in extramural research grants and has established dedicated interdisciplinary research groups, fostering collaborations both nationally and internationally.
"IUST has positioned itself as leading institute in the country where students are initiated into skilling, innovation and entrepreneurship early on and are also provided handholding in terms of Seed grants and other support aimed at productization and commercialization of their ideas," the handout reads.
It reads that IUST's inclusion in global rankings underscores both its institutional achievements and its growing prominence in the national and global academic and research community.
