Ahmedabad, July 25: Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Wednesday announced a series of landmark initiatives aimed at reinforcing its position as a premier institution for national security education, global sports collaboration, and civilizational revival.
The announcements were made during a media briefing addressed by RRU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, accompanied by senior faculty members and directors of key university departments.
According to a statement issued by Press Information Bureau (PIB) in Gujrat, one of the most significant developments was RRU’s central role in bringing the prestigious World Police & Fire Games (WPFG) to India in 2029.
The university, which was instrumental in the successful bid, will serve as a key organising partner and host eight of the sixty-three scheduled events on its campus.
To mark the occasion, the official website — www.wpfg2029.com — was virtually launched during the briefing.
An official spokesperson said a Secretariat-cum-Organizing Committee will soon be set up to oversee the comprehensive planning and management of the Games.
The university also announced plans to train 500 volunteers to support the execution of the mega-event, and to publish a detailed catalogue documenting insights and key takeaways from the recently concluded 2025 WPFG in Birmingham, USA, to serve as a knowledge base for the 2029 edition.
The university also unveiled the establishment of India’s first School of NCC and Police Martial Music Band.
Spokesperson said the initiative is aimed at reviving India’s traditional martial, ceremonial, and band music, and aligns with the Second Panch Pran of Viksit Bharat — the national resolve to shed colonial mindsets and rediscover the country’s indigenous ethos.
According to RRU officials, the new school will be the only institution of its kind in the country exclusively dedicated to elevating the dignity, professionalism, and visibility of police and paramilitary bands.
Quoting the Prime Minister’s vision, the university reiterated its belief in the spiritual and cultural strength of music, stating, “Music is the soul of our culture... Indian music will become the identity of the world.” Lt. (Dr.) Gaurav Singh Kushwah, Director of the School and Pro-Vice Chancellor of RRU, said the new centre would not only preserve heritage but also serve as a platform for research and professional training.
Further, the Bharat Centre of Olympic Research and Education (BCORE) at RRU announced a major expansion with the launch of India’s first Olympic Research Grants programme for Master’s and PhD scholars.
Spokesperson said the initiative will support advanced research on Olympic and sports-related themes across India and South Asia, providing financial aid, academic resources, and global networking opportunities.
To support the programme, a ₹75 lakh research corpus has been committed by the Gujarat State Cooperative Bank and Ahmedabad Cooperative Bank, under the leadership of Shri Ajay Patel, Senior Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association. Additionally, BCORE is in talks with Germany’s TSG Hoffenheim football club to establish a cutting-edge performance lab for India’s sports and security personnel.
The proposed facility will include psychological profiling, Helix 360 Arena simulation, and advanced performance tracking systems.
BCORE also announced that it will host the 2nd International Olympic Research Conference at RRU from January 27–30, 2026, with invitations extended to global Olympic research centres and scholars.
Summing up the university’s growing international and academic stature, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel said, “We are entering a transformational phase at RRU. From global sporting collaborations to pioneering academic ventures, each initiative is a testament to our commitment to excellence, innovation, and nation-first service.”
With these wide-ranging initiatives, Rashtriya Raksha University continues to position itself as a knowledge leader in national security, cultural revival, and sports diplomacy — fostering a future-ready India in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
