6 years on, non gazetted employees of GMC Baramulla await service recruitment rules

Baramulla, Aug 9: Despite the passage of six years, the non gazetted employees rue delay in framing service recruitment rules by the health and medical education department.

In wake of this, the Non-Gazetted Employees of GMC Baramulla on Saturday staged a protest to press for their demands.

The protesting employees said that as many as 3750 posts for the new five medical colleges were created by the government vide government  order in 2019 vide notification 287-HME of 2019, dated March 27, 2019.

"But the recruitment rules for these posts have not yet been finalized by J&K Medical Education Department," the protesting employees said.

The employees, appointed vide various government orders in GMC Baramulla, Rajouri, Anantnag, Doda, and Kathua also protested over the same issue from time to time during the last five years.

Senior doctors and faculty members were also reported giving a lending voice to their demands.

The protesting employees said that in the absence of recruitment rules, their career progression and promotions are at stake.

"Despite repeated assurances from authorities, no concrete step has been taken, and finalization of recruitment rules has not been done till date," they said.

They said several representations were submitted to the Health and Medical Education Department but the issue remains unresolved.

The protesting employees urged the government to take immediate steps to finalize the recruitment rules and ensure their implementation in the GMCs to ensure their career progression.

The employees threatened that they will not roads if their demands are not met.
