Jammu Aug 23: In a significant development, the Indian Railways has intensified its ticket checking system to strictly curb the illegal travel by commuters.
As per the handout issued here, the campaign will also reduce the revenue losses to the railways.
In wake of this, an intensive ticket checking campaign was conducted by the ticket checking staff in Jammu division on Saturday.
The ticket checking campaign was conducted between Katra, Jammu and Kathua rail sections which was supervised by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal.
In this ticket checking campaign, Assistant Commercial Manager Manoj Kumar and Ticket Inspector Jammu Abdul Rashid along with other ticket checking staff thoroughly checked train numbers 12445, 12920 12472, 12238 and 12919.
During the inspection Rs 36770 was collected as fine from 76 passengers
"The ticket checking campaign will be run from time to time in the division so that the passengers traveling without ticket can be identified and penalised," senior divisional commercial manager Uchit Singhal said.
The railway authorities have urged all the passengers to travel in Indian Railways with valid tickets or passes.
