BSF rescues 4 tourists stranded in Gurez during heavy rains

KS News Desk

Srinagar Aug 24: Troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) rescued four tourists from Sopore after they were stranded on their way to Gurez Valley due to heavy rains and landslides near Rajdhan Pass on Friday night.

Officials said the tourists — identified as Mohd Rahman, son of Abdul Rasid; Momin, son of Zahoor Ahmad; Riyan, son of Ramzan; and Sahid, son of Gulab Nabi — were travelling on two motorcycles when they were caught in strong winds and heavy rainfall around 10 p.m.

The sudden drop in temperature to around 5°C left them wet and shivering, making it impossible for them to return to Bandipora.

Personnel of the 62 Battalion, BSF, deployed at a forward location at Razdan top, reached the spot and shifted the tourists to safety. They were given medical aid, warm clothes, hot water, heating, food, and lodging for the night.

In the morning, the BSF provided them with tea and breakfast. The tourists are reported to be in normal condition and are waiting at Razdan until the weather improves.

The rescued tourists expressed gratitude to the BSF for timely assistance, saying the help came during “critical hours of need.”
