Handwara, Aug 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday evening arrested two individuals for assaulting a doctor and two employees at Community Health Centre Kralgund.
Earlier, an attendant was seen in a video slapping an on-duty doctor inside hospital premises.
In wake of this, a formal complaint was registered with nearby Police station and locals aslo demanded stern action against the accused.
“The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday (August 24, 2025) when a patient along with his family members reached the hospital with an injury on his hand,” an official said.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the police registered the FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for assault, using obscene language, and outraging the modesty of employees, an official said.
The accused was arrested late Sunday evening, a police official said.
The incident took place on August 24, when a group of miscreants carried out an assault, prompting the registration of an FIR and swift intervention by the Police authorities.
Speaking to Correspondent, Police confirmed the arrests and said legal proceedings are in progress. “Any act of violence against healthcare professionals or damage to hospital property is a serious offence,” the official said, stressing that the law would take its due course in ensuring justice.
The official said that the main accused, Javid Khan from Moshinar, and Shahid Ahmad Khan of Payarpora Kupwara were arrested due to the alertness of citizens and diligence of the police force.
“This kind of violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Our team worked tirelessly to track and arrest the accused," the official said.
The police issued a strong warning against future assaults on medical personnel, emphasizing that such cases would be met with strict legal action without exception.
