Srinagar, Sept 7:
Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Islamic
University of Science and Technology (IUST), Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romsho along
with Director Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-North East
Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Dr. Virendra M Tiwari Sunday called
on J&K Lieutenant Governor (LG Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan.
On the occasion, the two
institutions formally exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at
strengthening research collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
The MoU marks a significant
partnership between IUST and CSIR-NEIST to collaborate in the fields of
mountain hydrology and disaster vulnerability in the Himalayas, priority areas
that have gained urgency in light of recent climate-related events and
disasters in the Himalaya.
The Lieutenant Governor
congratulated the IUST and CSIR-NEIST for the timely initiative aimed at
enhancing scientific research and also providing practical solutions to the
pressing challenges faced by the Himalayan region.
He emphasized that the
partnership will play a pivotal role in developing innovative strategies to
mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change and natural disasters through
advancements in science, technology, and innovation.
The signing of the MoU
represents a forward-looking step in building synergies between premier
institutions, reinforcing their shared commitment to addressing regional and
national challenges through research, technology, and innovation.
