Srinagar, Sept 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) Wednesday tightened noose against the misuse of privately owned de-addiction centres functioning within Jammu and Kashmir UT.
As per the notice issued here,
Registrar and Secretary JKMC has stated that the Council has taken cognizance
of the misuse of privately owned de-addiction clinics or centres within the J&K
UT.
"It has become
imperative to regulate the practice relating to de-addiction treatment and the
prescription/dispensation of Buprenorphine-Naloxone and other narcotic/
psychotropic substances in the interest of public health and safely," the
notice reads.
The JKMC has made it mandatory for the medical practitioner desirous for permanent registration with JKMC to furnish an affidavit duly sworn before a judicial magistrate of the first class.
"Any medical
practitioner desirous for permanent registration with JKMC for the purpose of
providing de-addiction treatment or engaging in the prescription/dispensation
of the aforesaid substances within JKUT shall furnish an affidavit duly sworn
before a judicial magistrate of the first class," the notice reads.
