Baramulla Police launches application for security, safety of vulnerable sections of society

Baramulla, Nov 6: The Baramulla Police Thursday launched a safety application aimed at ensuring the protection and security of the most vulnerable sections of society.

The vulnerable groups include people from minority communities, PM package employees, politicians, families of terror victims, as well as labourers from outside Jammu and Kashmir working across Baramulla district.

Briefing about the initiative, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa told reporters that the application was revolutionary in its kind. 

"The application ensures that once the SOS button is pressed by any individual from the vulnerable group fearing a threat, an alert will immediately appear on the police dashboard, and help will reach the person within two minutes," Sherpa told reporters.

Meaning SSP Baramulla Gurinder Pal Singh said that so far 6,000 people have enrolled for the application, and the number is likely to increase.

"Among those registered so far are 42 Christians, 132 Buddhists, 2,258 Hindus, two Jains, 2,232 Muslims, 609 KP migrants, 416 non-Kashmiri government and semi-government employees, 19 non-KP minority migrants, 133 protected persons, 538 non-Kashmiri employees in the private/primary sector, 566 non-KP non-migrant Sikhs, and 223 terror victim families," SSP Baramulla said.
