Jammu, Nov 10: All Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officers have proceeded on mass casual leave in protest against the assault and harassment of the Block Development Officer, Nagrota, by the concerned SDPO during election duty.
In a representation addressed to the J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha the officers expressed deep anguish and strong protest over the incident, stating that the BDO was performing his official duties as Nodal Officer (Transport) under lawful election orders when he was allegedly assaulted and later harassed through registration of a false and fabricated FIR.
The officers stated that the incident has severely shaken the morale of the entire JKAS fraternity and raised serious concerns about the safety, dignity, and institutional protection of civil officers on duty.
Meanwhile, the J&K Police have ordered the immediate transfer of Deputy SP Sunil Jasrotia after a video showing him slapping a JKAS officer during election duty went viral.
However, JKAS officers have said that mere transfer is not enough and have decided to continue their mass casual leave until stern and visible action is taken against the erring officer(s) and safeguards are ensured to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
