PSAJK seeks representation in inquiry committee against private schools

KS News Desk

Srinagar, Nov 28: The Private Schools Association J&K (PSAJK) on Friday sought its inclusion in the inquiry committees constituted against the private schools.

The demand comes in wake of the inquiry committee constituted by Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla against a private school operating in the district.

The inquiry committee was constituted after a complaint was submitted by a parent against the school management saying that the school demanded excess school fees and withheld the discharge certificate of his child.

Following this a three-member committee was constituted to thoroughly examine all the aspects of the complaint under the provisions of SRO-123 of March 18 of 2010 and SRO-292 of July 2 of 2018.

However, president PSAJK, Nazrul Islam Baba said the school education department should include one member of the association in the inquiry committee to have representation from the private sector as well.

"We do not want any authority in such committees but if our association will have a representation in the committee, we will also get aware about the type of complaints received against the schools," President PSAJK said.

He said the Association earlier requested the Secretary SED and Director School Education to include the district president of the association in the inquiry committees so that the schools also learn about why complaints are filed against the schools and how such situations can be addressed," he said.

He said the association is seeking hand holding from the government to put the system on track.

"Besides two or three members from the government, the department can have one district president of the association in it as well. That is what hand holding means," President PSAJK said.

"The private schools will also get experience and work smoothly in accordance with the rules," he said
