Srinagar, Jan 28: As many as 27 people, mostly children, have tested positive for jaundice in the Gutligund village of Anantnag in south Kashmir.
The move has raised the concern among locals and other stakeholders.
An official said that the screening process was underway however so far 27 people mostly children tested positive for jaundice in the area.
"Medical teams along with Asha workers have been carrying out door to door awareness campaigns to educate people how to keep themselves safe," the official said. The official said the situation was under control as all patients were stable and recovering as well.
The local residents attributed the jaundice outbreak to the contaminated water provided to them. They alleged that contaminated water was the main reason behind the outbreak.
However the officials said that water samples were already taken for testing while the report was yet to come.
