Srinagar Jan 31: The additional charge syndrome continues to plague the University of Kashmir (KU) as the key positions are manned by officers as their additional charges.
In a fresh order issued by the KU administration, Registrar of the varsity, Prof. Naseer Iqbal has been assigned the additional charge of Director Kupwara campus, till further orders, relieving Prof. Parvez Ahmad Shah from the charge.
Also, Prof. Parvez Ahmad, head department of Geography and disaster management has been asked to function as Dean Student Welfare till further.
The move has relieved Prof. Shamim Ahmad Shah from this charge.
The assigning of additional assignment to the officers has raised questions over smooth functioning of the system at the KU's main campus as well as its satellite campuses as well.
Earlier, KU ordered officer level reshuffle in the main campus besides the satellite campuses while assigning additional charges to half a dozen officers.
Surprisingly, a teacher in south campus Anantnag has been assigned additional charge of NewGen IEDC Centre at main campus.
"The move has surprised everyone as the person assigned the charge won't be able to justice with the given assignments. When system is messed up at the top, nothing should be expected on the ground," the official said
The official said that all these orders have been issued in absence of Registrar KU who is out of station for the last few days.
"The orders have been managed by the officers as per their own will in absence of the Registrar," the official said.
