Sopore Police arrest 4 drug peddlers in 2 days, recover contraband substances

Sopore Feb 03: Sopore Police arrested four drug peddlers in two days and recovered contraband substances from their possession as well.

In an official handout issued here, a Police team led by SHO Police Station Panzalla intercepted three individuals at a checkpoint set up at Hamdania Colony Naidhal Rafiabad.

The Police identified them as Aadil Ahmad Lone son of Mohammad Rajab Lone, Mohammad Shafi Sheikh son of  Ghulam Nabi Sheikh and Sajad Ahmad Lone son of Mohammad Sadeeq Lone, residents of Nadihal Rafiabad. 

"During their search, the police recovered 122 grams of contraband charas like substance from their possession," the police handout reads.

It reads that a case (FIR No. 06/2025) has been filed under the relevant sections of the law, at Police Station Panzalla and investigations have been started as well.

"We encourage the public to share any information related to narcotics or other crimes with the nearest police station or by dialing 112," reads the handout, issued by Sopore Police.

Police have urged the community to cooperate in the fight against drugs and assured that strict action will be taken against "criminals as per the law."

Sopore Police has tightened its noose against the drug peddlers as one peddler was arrested on February 1 of 2025 as well.

The drug peddler, identified as Fazil Rashid Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir from Naidhal Rafiabad, was arrested at a check point set up at Nadihal crossing.

The Police in its statement said that  25 grams of contraband charas like substance were recovered from his possession.

As already reported, Sopore Police arrested eight drug peddlers in January month, as part of its campaign launched to curb the menace of substance abuse from the Police district.
