The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) department on Thursday suspended two doctors and barred them to practice at private hospitals within Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the order issued by the Secretary H&ME department Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, both the doctors will remain attached with the Directorate of Health Services Jammu (DHSJ).
The move comes following the alleged medical negligence that occurred on February 3 of 2025 at Hakeem Sonaullah Hospital, Sopore.
"Pending enquiry into the incident and to ensure a fair and impartial investigation while maintaining the integrity of the healthcare system, the two doctors are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect and shall remain attached with Directorate of Health Services, Jammu till further orders," the government order reads.
The doctors placed under suspension include Dr. Anjum Nazir, Consultant Gynaecologist, SDH Sopore and Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar, Medical Officer, (Diploma in Anesthesia), DH Bandipora. "Furthermore, it is hereby ordered that the aforementioned doctors are prohibited from engaging in any form of private practice within the entire Jammu and Kashmir," the government order reads.
It reads that additionally, Operation theater of Hakeem Sonaullah Hospital, Sopore, shall remain sealed "till the conclusion of the inquiry."
