Amid grievances, CU Srinagar claims transparent recruitment of Assistant Professors

Srinagar, Feb 09: The Cluster University (CU) Srinagar on Sunday said that it will ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process for various positions of the Assistant Professors as per the laid down guidelines and public advertisements.

The statement comes amid the complaints from various aggrieved aspirants that CU Srinagar rejected their applications forms as their degree certificate obtained from the Kashmir University (KU) had no particular mention about the specialisation.

In a handout issued here, CU Srinagar said that the ongoing process of recruitment for Assistant Professors in various disciplines was completely fair and transparent with subject-wise screening committees carefully scrutinizing the applications as per the varsity’s advertisement notice.

The CU said that some of the candidates who had applied for the Assistant Professor position in Management Studies, but were not considered by the concerned screening committee since "they did not possess the requisite specialization as clearly specified in the advertisement notice dated October 25 of 2024."

"In addition to the basic eligibility criteria based on Master's degree, NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D Degree, the clause ‘B’ of the said advertisement notice clearly mentions that besides fulfilling these conditions of eligibility, the qualifications for Management Studies shall be Master's degree with 55 percent marks in Management Studies with specialization in Finance and Human Resource," the statement reads.

The CU Srinagar said that the claim made by applicants that the varsity was not entertaining MBA degrees from Kashmir University "is not true."

"Going by the advertisement notice, candidates who do not possess the requisite specialisation have not made it through the screening process irrespective of the university from which they have been awarded the MBA degrees,” the CU statement reads.

It reads that the MBA degree certificates furnished by these candidates do not mention the requisite specialisation and hence have not passed the screening stage.

"Some of the candidates having MBA degree with specialisation from Kashmir University have been shortlisted for the said interview," it reads.
