Srinagar May 01: Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) has launched GVTV, a pioneering student-led media initiative.
As per the school handout, the initiative aims to reshape how students engage with communication, creativity, and real-world storytelling.
"This milestone marks a significant leap forward following the introduction of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum and the inclusion of Media Studies as an academic subject at the Senior Secondary level," the school handout reads.
It reads that GVTV is envisioned as more than just a media platform—it is a dynamic space where students learn by doing.
"With a focus on experiential learning, GVTV will immerse students in the core elements of the media industry, from news broadcasting, radio jockeying, podcasting, and film studies to public relations, digital storytelling, and journalism," the handout reads. GVTV offers students the chance to step into professional roles, create original content, and become the voice of the campus.
"In tandem with this development, Green Valley is undergoing a major upgrade of its media infrastructure," the handout reads.
A fully-equipped media laboratory, complete with a digital recording studio, editing suites, green screen facilities, and professional audiovisual tools is being established to support this growing venture.
"These enhancements are designed to give students access to industry-grade resources, enabling them to produce content that is both meaningful and high in quality," the handout reads.
The initiative was launched within the school premises by chairman GVEI Mohammad Yousuf Wani, Director Mutayib Wani and Principal Riyaz Kathjoo in the presence of faculty and students.
"GVTV will also function as the official media face of the school, providing regular coverage of campus events, student achievements, cultural and literary activities, interviews, and special reports," the handout reads.
It reads that students will be responsible for all stages of production, from scripting and anchoring to filming and editing—offering them an invaluable opportunity to build confidence, leadership, and technical expertise.
"We are committed to providing an education that evolves with the times. With GVTV, we are not just launching a media initiative—we are opening doors for our students to become thinkers, communicators, and creators of the future," Chairman GVEI Muhammad Yousuf Wani said.
