Srinagar Nov 30: The Kashmir Frontier of the Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated its 61st Raising Day on Sunday in Srinagar,
The day was filled with pride, emotion and heartfelt remembrance of the Force’s unwavering service to the nation.
Formed on December 1 of 1965, the BSF began its journey with the responsibility of guarding India’s International Borders.
Over the last six decades, the Force has stood strong through countless challenges -protecting the nation during wars, facing threats along the borders, supporting internal security and playing a vital role in counter-insurgency operations in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. Every year of this journey reflects courage, sacrifice and the unbroken spirit of the men and women in uniform.
"Today, the BSF stands tall as the world’s largest border-guarding force, securing the borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh and carrying out internal security duties with high level of determination," the handout reads.
"Its unique Air Wing, Water Wing and Artillery Regiment symbolize the strength and versatility that define the BSF’s character," it reads.
A cultural program and Barakhana was organised for BSF veterans—many of whom dedicated their youth, personal and family comfort to the nation.
"Their presence in the event added a deep emotional resonance to the celebrations," the handout reads.
Inspector General BSF Kashmir Frontier Ashok Yadav attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while other senior officers joined in extending warm Raising Day greetings to troops and their families.
They interacted with BSF Jawans, appreciating their relentless dedication and shared the pride of playing a key role towards national security.
The Chief Guest paid a heartfelt tribute to BSF martyrs acknowledging the supreme sacrifices made by them in defending the nation.
He also lauded the commitment and dedication of all BSF officers and jawans, who stand guard in harsh climates, difficult terrains and challenging situations so that the nation may sleep in peace.
The Diamond Jublee (61st Raising Day) celebration at Frontier Headquarters, BSF Kashmir, was marked with deep pride, patriotic fervor and a renewed resolve to uphold the values of courage, commitment, and an unshakeable commitment towards the national security.
