KS News Desk
Srinagar, Dec 10: A delegation of J&K Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) and JK Teachers Association (JKTA) led by Shah Fayaz held a detailed meeting with the Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan at his residence in New Delhi.
As per the handout, the delegation discussed several significant issues related to the education sector and employee welfare in Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, the delegation pushed for enhancement of PM SHRI Schools and ATL Laboratories in J&K.
During the meeting Chairman JKTA Shah Fayaz stressed the need to expand the network of PM SHRI Schools and strengthen Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) across the J&K UT to boost innovation, hands-on learning, and 21st-century skill development in government schools.
The delegation also raised the concerns regarding Mid-Day Meal (MDM) workers, AAYA helpers, and CPWs—particularly enhanced wages, improved working conditions, and long-term job security—were strongly put forth.
"Chairman JKTA Shah Fayaz highlighted the difficulties faced by already-appointed teachers after the recent TET ruling. The Minister assured that the Ministry is actively considering an amendment to the RTE Act to provide relief to affected teachers," the handout reads.
The meeting also deliberated upon other essential issues, including infrastructural upgradation, staff welfare measures, and policy-level improvements.
"The long-pending issue of pay anomaly of J&K teachers was strongly raised. The delegation urged the Union minister to intervene and help bring J&K teachers’ pay structure at par with that of other Union Territories,' it reads.
President JKECC and Chairman JKTA Shah Fayaz formally invited the Union education Minister to attend the upcoming JKTA Teachers’ Conference in Srinagar.
"We express our sincere gratitude to the Union education minister for accepting the invitation," it reads.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, General Secretary JKTA Hatim Qayoom presented a comprehensive review of the organisation, highlighting its achievements, structure, and ongoing educational and social welfare initiatives.

Spokesperson Dar Ajaz, Apex Member Naseer Usmani district President Kupwara Jaffer
