The University of Kashmir contingent concluded its campaign at the All India
Inter-University Winter Games Championship 2025 with an impressive performance,
securing two medals.
Zubair Ahmad Mir clinched gold while Aneesa Anjum Jeelani won bronze in the individual ice stock event.
The championship was organized by the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Ganderbal under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The championship witnessed exceptional talent from across the country. The University of Kashmir athletes showcased remarkable skill and determination, bringing laurels to the University.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Neelofar Khan congratulated the ice stock players for their outstanding achievements, emphasizing the university’s commitment to nurturing sports talent.
She encouraged the athletes to continue their rigorous training for future championships and assured them of state-of-the-art sports facilities to enhance their performance.
Registrar KU Prof. Naseer Iqbal commended the athletes for their stellar performance at the All India level, reinforcing the university’s vision for excellence in sports.
He urged the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports to intensify efforts in developing a robust sports culture at the university.
Coordinator Physical Education and Sports Dr. Surjeet Singh appreciated the athletes for their achievement and reiterated the commitment of the Directorate to make the University a pioneer in sports.
He expressed his gratitude to Vice Chancellor for supporting Directorate in every possible way.
Besides Coordinator Physical Education and Sports Dr. Surjeet Singh the contingent was accompanied by Assistant Director Physical Education Tausif Bhat as team manager.
