KS News Desk

Srinagar, March 12: A women’s cricket team from Kashmir embarked on a tour to Maharashtra on Wednesday as part of an initiative aimed at fostering sports talent among young Kashmiri women.

The tour has been organised under the aegis of the Chinar Corps and Aseem Foundation which aims to provide exposure and skill enhancement opportunities to the players.

The 15-member squad was flagged off by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Chinar Corps at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.

The team will play against Maharashtra-based squads and engage in interactive sessions with cricketing dignitaries. They will also visit Mumbai, the country’s financial capital, as part of the tour.

According to officials, the initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sports among Kashmiri youth, providing them with national-level training facilities.

The Aseem Foundation, Pune, has played a key role in facilitating the tour, ensuring that the players get access to top-tier cricketing infrastructure.

“The Indian Army remains committed to empowering young women in Kashmir across various fields, including sports. Such interactions with teams from other states broaden their horizons and encourage positive societal engagement,” an Army spokesperson said.

The GOC of Chinar Corps congratulated the players on their selection and wished them success in their matches and future endeavors.
