FFRC approves hike in tuition fees, annual fee of Saint Josephs’ school Baramulla

‘School management is barred from charging admission fee from students and shall not sell uniforms, books in school premises’

Srinagar, Jan 18: In a significant development, the Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) for private schools across J&K, has approved a hike in the monthly tuition fees and annual fees of the Saint Joseph's Higher Secondary School Baramulla.

The order in this regard has been issued by the Administrative Officer of the FFRC.

As per the order, the FFRC has approved the hike in tuition fees after considering the details indicating the existing revenue and the expenditure statement of the school.

The fee structure proposed has been worked and approved by the committee. This exercise has been undertaken by the committee in terms of Rule 7.

As per the new fee structure, the monthly tuition fees has been hiked from Rs 1135 to 1205 for Nursery to UKG while the annual fees has been hiked from 5840 to 6190 for the academic session 2024-25 respectively.

Also the tuition fees for classes 1st to 4th has been hiked from Rs 970 to Rs 1030 while the annual fee has been hiked from Rs 7530 to Rs 7980.

Similarly, the monthly tuition fee has been hiked from Rs 1030 to Rs 1090 while the annual fee has been hiked from Rs 8435 to Rs 8940 for classes from 5th to 10th.

Also, the tuition fees has been hiked from Rs 1080 to Rs 1145 for class 11th while the annual fees has been hiked from Rs 7140 to Rs 7570 and the tuition fees for class 12th has been hiked from Rs 1145 to Rs 1215 while the annual fees has been hiked from Rs 7400 to Rs 7845.

“Periodical increase in the salary of the teachers is one of the essential elements which the school is required to provide to such staff. This factor is also to be considered while determining the fee,” the FFRC order reads.

It further reads that the fees of the school has been determined after consideration of these factors by laying more emphasis on the revenue as the expenditure of the School details.

“The school management shall give priority for imparting quality education to the students. The school management shall publish only FFRC orders about fee structure and Government Education Department's notices in newspapers. No publicity through advertisement shall be made about School, same being not a Business unit,” the FFRC order reads.

The FFRC has said charging and collecting of admission fees was prohibited by statutes. “The school management is prohibited from charging and collecting admission fees from the students and shall not sell uniforms and books in the school premises,” the order reads.
