Srinagar, May 21: An awareness program was organised by the District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC), Srinagar, at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Zadibal.

The event was organised to educate students and the local community about various self-employment schemes and support services available under Mission YUVA to combat unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir.

Conducted under Mission YUVA, a flagship program designed to equip the youth with tools for self-reliance, the event attempted to bridge the gap between aspiring entrepreneurs and government resources wherein guest speakers delivered detailed sessions regarding self-employment schemes, skill development, job matching and counselling services.

The participants, mostly from the Commerce Stream of the school, were also acquainted with the different schemes and financial services offered by different government departments including Jammu and Kashmir Bank and other Financial Institutions, in order to access and avail financial assistance to set-up the new enterprises.

The speakers, including from J&K Bank, DECC, DC Office Srinagar and District Industries Centre, urged participants to access online tools like Mission YUVA application and related websites to know about the schemes and services of employment opportunities.

With unemployment remaining a pressing concern in Jammu and Kashmir, the speakers said that the Mission YUVA represents a proactive step toward economic empowerment. By decentralizing support through YUVA DOOTS and leveraging digital tools, they said, the government hopes to reach even remote communities.

They urged the school administration and community leaders to assist them in mobilizing local youth and ensuring maximum participation in such initiatives.

The event received a warm response from the participants who affirmed to utilise the resources in future.
