Rajouri, Feb 26: In a significant development, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) has expanded its academic landscape and strengthened its position by adding new six departments and seven programs in the varsity.
With this, University is setting new benchmarks in academic excellence, research, and innovation.
With a renewed focus on Multidisciplinary Studies, BGSBU has established new departments and introduced several postgraduate and undergraduate programs to cater to evolving academic and professional demands.
The newly established departments include Department of Sanskrit, History, Political Science and International Relations, Sociology,
Linguistics and Mechanical Engineering.
In addition, the university has introduced cutting-edge undergraduate engineering programs to equip students with the latest technological advancements and industry-relevant skills, including B.Tech in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Recognizing the growing importance of advanced studies in engineering and technology, BGSBU has also launched M.Tech programs, namely M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering,
Power and Energy Systems, Electronics and Communication
and Water Resource Engineering.
Speaking on the academic transformation, Vice Chancellor BGSBU, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal said the varsity was committed to academic excellence and holistic development.
"Our focus is on creating a knowledge-driven ecosystem that empowers students and faculty to contribute meaningfully to society," he said.
He said that with innovative programs, research initiatives, and a forward-thinking approach BGSBU will be among the leading institutions in the country.
"The introduction of these programs reflects the essence of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), which promotes interdisciplinary teaching and research while contributing to the larger benefit of society," he said.
He said that by integrating traditional wisdom with modern advancements, BGSBU aims to nurture a holistic academic environment that fosters innovation, inclusivity, and societal growth.
The Vice Chancellor further emphasized that the new programs have been introduced as per the demand of the local people and will provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete at the Union Territory (UT) and National level tests.
Dean Academic Affairs BGSBU, Prof. M J Warsi said these academic initiatives will enhance the career prospects of our students and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the region.
"The introduction of programs in humanities and social sciences has long been a demand of the local community, and we are pleased to address it," he said.
