Srinagar Jan 19: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela once again showcases a remarkable confluence of unity, equality, and harmony.

He said the active participation of our youth demonstrates how they are embracing modernity while connecting with the country's traditions and heritage.

PM Modi was addressing people during Mann Kie Baat and said the festival of Kumbh celebrates the celebration of unity in diversity.

"People from all over India, from all over the world gather on the land of unity. There is no discrimination anywhere in this tradition that has been going on for thousands of years. There is no casteism," PM Modi said.

He said Kumbh Mela symbolises unity as all the poor, rich and people from different walks of life become one.

"Everyone here eats together, takes prasad together. That is why Kumbh is the Mahakumbh of unity. The arrangement of Kumbh also tells us how our traditions tie the whole of India in one thread," he said.

He said this time people must have seen that the participation of youth in Kumbh was widespread.

"And it is also true that when the young generation join their culture and pride, its roots become stronger," PM Modi said.

He said the global popularity of Kumbh was a matter of pride for every Indian.

"These festivals connect the people of India with the traditions of India. And just as our scriptures have given strength to Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha, Chandra in the world, similarly, our mountains and traditions also strengthen the spiritual, social, cultural and financial sides," he said.
