PM Modi Mann Ki Baat : Highlights spirit of Indian constitution on its 75th Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the latest episode of his radio program Mann Ki Baat, described this year’s Republic Day as a moment of immense pride and reflection, marking the 75th anniversary of India becoming a republic and the implementation of its Constitution.

The Prime Minister paid homage to the visionaries of the Constituent Assembly, emphasizing the relevance of their ideas in contemporary India.

PM Modi highlighted the extensive deliberations that shaped the Constitution, calling it a "sacred document" and a testament to the foresight of the assembly members.

“The speeches and thoughts of the Constituent Assembly are a great heritage for us,” he said.

Recalling the words of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Prime Minister quoted his address to the Constituent Assembly, wherein Ambedkar expressed concerns about fostering unity and cooperation among India’s diverse population. “Our difficulty,” Ambedkar had said, “is not with regard to the ultimate future. Our difficulty is with regard to the beginning.”

PM Modi said how Ambedkar’s insights remain a guiding light for India’s path to unity and progress.

The Prime Minister also reflected on the contributions of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who spoke about the enduring strength of Indian culture and its emphasis on truth and non-violence. “If we keep our ideals in view, we will be able to serve the world,” Dr. Prasad had said.

Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s vision for equality of opportunity and inclusivity also found mention in the program.

“Everyone should have an equal opportunity so that they can develop their talent and serve the motherland,” PM Modi recalled Mukherjee's message saying his vision was to have a nation free from discrimination based on caste, creed, or community.

PM Modi urged citizens to draw inspiration from the ideals of these luminaries and work collectively towards building an India that upholds the values enshrined in the Constitution. “We Indians should be inspired by these thoughts and work for the development of such an India on which our Constitution makers would be proud,” he said.
